Perfectly Neutral

I have to admit, when I was a bride, I wanted to be the only one wearing white.

I wanted to stand out.

I felt I had the right, to be the only one in white.

And since it was December, everyone obeyed the "no white after labor day" and "no white at weddings" combination rule...my princessy wish came true.

After seeing the Washington wedding below however (via Style Me Pretty), I have to confess that white is such a lovely non-color...why not spread it all around?

When done right, all white is all right. It's also downright gorgeous.

Pink and Yellow Showers

Thank you all for your suggestions on Shower invitations earlier this week!

Below is the inspiration board I created for this shower back in January. I was "dreaming of dahilas" at the time and made it part of the theme, however since Dahlias are more of a late summer flower we will most likely be using ranunculus or peonies.

The bride is using blue and green for her wedding colors so I wanted to choose a color scheme that was different. Light pink and yellow with a pop of aqua for a cool down will work very nicely I think.

Invitation Indecision

I've been on the hunt for the perfect shower invitations and I came up with a few very lovely options.
All I need to do is decide the look I am going for...

Simple and Lovely
Cute Calligraphy Signature White Bridal Shower Invitations

Romantic and Traditional
Charming Rose Signature Ecru Bridal Shower Invitations

Sweet and Modern
Simple and delightful custom flower shower invitation

Illustrative and Fun
Bridal Shower Invitation - Champagne Toast

The beautiful Bride is  young and has such a quiet elegance about her. I am so looking forward to pulling together an event that makes her smile. I think I am leaning towards the last one because it is very "Lyrical" as my drawing teacher would say...but I think the are all very sweet.

Which one do you like the best?

Weekly Bunch: Florica by Helen James Design

Recently, I stumbled upon the most beautiful flower garden---so welcome during this last stretch of winter and I am so inspired by flowers of all kinds.

FLORICA by Helen James is beautiful collection of delightfully romantic floral head pieces.
Helen James creates each piece by hand using a teqnique that allows each flower to hold their shape and body so each bloom will stay perky long after nightfall.

Take a look at their petals....

The detail crafted into each piece...

The pale and romantic choice of color...

Everything about them is just superb!

Just two year's ago I was searching high and low for a silk flower to wear in my hair as bridesmaid in a friends wedding much to no avail. My locks went flowerless.

Though many options have sprouted up since, these lovely works of art are sure to radiate their beauty long after the flower trend wilts and fades---whether displayed upon head, frock, or dresser top.

Helen James is a designer out of Ireland who set up own label in 2004 after working for Donna Karen in NYC.  Her favorite designers are Dries Van Noten, Alber Elbaz at Lanvin and Marni. You can view her artful and romantic designs can be viewed here.  After feeling inspired to create flowers for a long time, Helen developed a design process that brought her imagination to blossom and started the FLORICA label in late 2009.

Headpieces can be purchased at the FLORICA etsy shop.
